Overview

This infographic timeline traces the 60+ years evolution of a design school that progressed from the Hong Kong Technical College to the Hong Kong Polytechnic, and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

In the light of changing industrial and economic policies, socio-technological conditions, the views of thought leaders from Hong Kong and aboard, along with PolyU’s institutional development, the timeline attempts to record the progress of design programmes that were offered at the School of Design (SD). Such evolution is graphically organised with images and artefacts produced across the years, including images of annual shows and catalogues, event posters, course promotion materials, teaching activities and students’ works, etc. to depict the journey of PolyU Design’s development. Where appropriate, concept maps of the course planners and quotable thoughts from leaders are included to substantiate the rationales behind the unfoldment.
